Sheri Ruiz is the merchandise manager at Westchester Country Club in Rye, New York.
No stranger to the golf business as, Sheri has been married to a golf professional for the past 17 years. Three years ago, he became PGA head professional at Oak Hills Park in Norwalk, Connecticut, where Sheri helped him set up and redesign his golf shop. Her first club job was at Winged Foot Golf Club working under Tom Nieporte, PGA, for six seasons and one season with John Buczek, PGA. The experience was beyond any expectation she had and what she learned was immeasurable. After leaving Winged Foot Sheri pursued her education in photography and printmaking, graduating in the spring of 2013 from Purchase College with her BFA. It was in the spring of 2014 that she began working for John Kennedy, PGA, at Westchester Country Club in Rye, New York. Knowing that he has been awarded Merchandiser of Year (among the many awards he has been given), she knew the expectation was high to creatively design displays and keeping the shop fresh. Her art background has helped apply the principles of art and design in developing visually appealing displays within the shop. This season new rooms dedicated to clubs, shoes and juniors has been a huge addition to the golf shop. Sheri resides in Harrison, New York, with her husband, Ed and son Christopher.
Peter Millar is Westchester’s top selling men’s line. I believe in keeping it simple without the use of too many props but definitely using rules of art and design to have movement from the table to wall display.
